Biomarker Testing Awareness Campaign

Biomarker Testing. Progress & Disparities

Brief.

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is the nation’s leading cancer advocacy organization that is working every day to make cancer issues a national priority. Advances in precision medicine have led to targeted cancer therapies that have improved patient outcomes and quality of life within populations of cancer patients with very specific biomarkers. Testing patients for cancer biomarkers is integral to identifying those who may benefit from targeted therapy. Despite the importance of such testing, many cancer patients are not tested for biomarkers.

In an effort to raise awareness, this illustrated video focuses on the importance of access to biomarker testing. Commissioned by Subject Matter, the ask was to achieve a hand-made, figurative style, with an elegant storybook effect. In response, we designed a series of relatable characters in familiar everyday settings. Illustrating notable racial/ethnic, and socioeconomic disparities, the animation builds momentum into action to join ACS’ mission to help improve access to biomarker testing.
